Featured Course: Scriptwriting

Have fun this summer, and knock out an Arts and Humanities (GEP) credit by enrolling in ENGL 272-Introduction to Creative Writing- Scriptwriting. The course will cover script writing for different mediums like TV, radio, and drama, with an emphasis on film. You must have completed ENGL 100 with a ‘C’ or better. This course is considered a general education requirement for the Arts and Humanities.

The best way to begin writing is to keep a daily journal. At first, you may not have much to write or how to begin. Begin by documenting or blogging your daily activities. Think about your day and organize your thoughts. I had the same issues when I took freshman English in college. We were assigned to write an essay. ideas never good at writing an essay or anything else. My professor suggested the journal. So I started journaling and didn’t stop until I graduated college. I compared my first several entries from my freshman year with a few final entries before college graduation.
I love tackling the blank page. one of my favorite parts of writing or blogging is the beginning. Writing the opening to a film (and ending scene too) is my favorite part. It is for me the middle part that usually is too short because I trim the fluff and fat before I even write which leads to 30-40 page screenplays. Perhaps there is something more compelling I have yet to tap into
